Kite flying and holy bonfire marked Lohri and Makar Sankranti celebrations at Chadha residence.

She along with her friends and family celebrated Lohri and Makar Sankranti with traditional fervour and gaiety.

Marking the commencement of the sun’s journey to the northern hemisphere, with warmer, longer days and shorter nights, and the beginning of the harvest season, this day is celebrated amid lots of fanfare and enthusiastic kite flying.

The sky was a riot of colours at the Chadha residence with all the guests singing and dancing to the tune of Punjabi tracks.

Guests gathered around the holy bonfire, sang their famous traditional song, and danced on them. They were offered with the traditional food- peanuts, til Rewari, maize seeds, etc.

“2020 was a tough year for all. Though it took a lot from us, it taught us the true meaning of togetherness and selflessness. We welcome 2021 with positivity and festivals and what better than the first festival of the year Lohri and Makar Sankranti. Just like the pandemic got us together, it is time we celebrate the festivals and strengthen our bond” says Gurpreet Kaur Chadha.
