Due to COVID 19 Pandemic, the awards will be presented in the virtual setup, which in fact became an opportunity to reach out across the globe to incorporate international speakers and nominees. Though we have cut down the awards this year, we have only 12 awards, but I am sure it will create a huge impact. This year in the panel of discussions, we have honorable ministers of states on board including speakers to give their views on the “My Daughter my State” session. We are glad to have Dr. Harshvardhan he has joined this campaign. State and government heads have joined hands with us to support us. We hope to win more support from people in the near future”
Dr. Hrishikesh Pai, Leading Gynecologist, former President FOGSI quoted saying “MedscapeIndia and I go way back. It is an outstanding organisation, they have done a lot of noble work for women. They have been regarding doctors for their work to serve humanity. I would like to congratulate them for their initiative ‘Save the girl child from womb to tomb’. It is high time that we do everything in our power to eradicate female foeticide. Women should be respected and loved, they deserve equal opportunities as men. If they succeed, the country will succeed”
Dr. Nandita Palshetkar – President (FOGSI) Federation of Obstetric & Gynaecological Societies of India “Congratulations to Sunita Dube, I think 13 years is a long time and she has done this wonderful job of saving the girl child and this year’s slogan of Save the girl child from womb to tomb really accomplishes the entire life cycle of women. It is a fantastic thought process because we as women are caregivers and as obstetricians & Gynecologists I have realized that it is from the womb that we have to achieve first to survive and then accomplish the rest. Unfortunately, Women have been always treated as second-class citizens, while they are supposed to sacrifice everything from eating less and keep for the family and never take our health as a priority, which certainly needs to be addressed.
*Dr.M L Sharaf said, “I am very happy to be associated with Dr. Sunita Dube right from the time of the inception of MedscapeIndia’s Save the Girl Child Movement. Today it’s the 13th year and we are very proud to have the Awards trophy for this year unveiled by none other than the Honourable Governor of Maharashtra who gave us very encouraging words. We all believe in saving the girl child but hearing it from a veteran like him. I wish MedscapeIndia all the very best for the future”
