Today, on the morning of 19/5/20, PSI Chincholkar received information through a reliable source that one person named “Mohd. Halim” was responsible for the sales and distribution of illegal banned gutkha/scented pan masala products from his godown at Kajupada Pipeline, Sakinaka, Mumbai.

        The Unit 5 team set up a trap and kept a watch at the said location. A successful raid was carried out, and the surveillance team identified the below-mentioned suspect and detained him for the possession of banned gutkha/scented pan masala of various brands worth Rs. 14,50,380/- (black market rate).

 The team immediately called the FDA officer and took legal actions as per the procedure.       

The FDA officer reported this and filed a complaint at the Sakinaka Police Station. The case was registered vide  Cr.648/20, u/s. 188,269,272,273,328, IPC R/w 26(ii)1,27(ii)4,27(iii) of Food Safety Act.                

        The said offense was transferred to Unit 5 for further investigation and renumbered as DCB, CID, CR No. 95/20.

        The accused, named  Mohd. Halim Mohd. Hakimuddin Shaikh, Age 35 Yrs, R/o. Jakinabai Iqbal Chawl, Kajupada pipeline, Sakinaka, Mumbai, was arrested in the evening today, and will be produced before Hon. ACMM, Esplanade Court, Mumbai for Remand tomorrow.

        The seized gutkha/scented pan masala products were handed over to FDA authorities for further legal procedures.
